Structure and function of the grain singling unit

The grain singling unit singles the seed with air overpressure. The application rate determines the required grain spacing. The spread rate is set by selecting the singling disks and adjusting the singling disk speed. The speed of the singling disks is adjusted via the control terminal. Machines with CurveControl regulate the speed for each row separately, so that the grain spacing is maintained even when driving in curves. Each grain singling unit has its own seed hopper. The seed flows through the inlet opening into the grain singling unit.

Scrapers

The compressed air fan generates the overpressure in the grain singling unit. The grains from the supply area 1 adhere to the bores of the singling disk due to the overpressure. The rotating singling disk guides the singled seed past the scrapers. The scrapers detach excess seed grains 2. The excess seed grains fall back into the supply area. On the opto-sensor, the bores of the singling disk are closed by the bore covering roller 3. The seed at the opto-sensor is transferred into the shot channel by the air current 4. The opto-sensor monitors the grain singling unit.
